Our Scope.
Our package of works encompasses bulk excavation, site remediation, and detailed shoring and piling works to support the new biomedical facility.
This includes the installation of retention piling, anchors, and shotcrete, as well as the construction of 140 foundation piles. The works also involve full asbestos containment and remediation, excavation and replacement of unsuitable ground conditions, and comprehensive groundwater management systems.
Given the project’s location within the University of Sydney campus, Moits are also responsible for implementing extensive temporary works arrangements to safeguard adjacent roads, services and nearby operational facilities.
Challenges & Our Approach.
The site presents a number of technical and environmental challenges requiring precise planning and execution.
These include working adjacent to the live Susan Wakil Health Building, a sensitive and operational biomedical research facility, as well as managing restricted access within the university precinct.
Additionally, the discovery of friable asbestos contamination, extensive unsuitable ground conditions, and significant groundwater flows required careful sequencing and specialist remediation techniques.
Our approach focuses on proactive risk management, close coordination with stakeholders, and the use of proven methodologies to ensure safe, compliant and uninterrupted delivery.
By combining our technical expertise with disciplined execution, Moits are committed to supporting the successful delivery of this world-class biomedical research facility.
