Challenges & Our Approach.
Moits worked alongside Erilyan to complete a full reconfiguration of the existing crossing arrangements, median islands, traffic signals and traffic paths on the busy Camden Road.
Going from a 3-way to 4-way intersection, we negotiated and developed a combination of temporary and permanent arrangements with existing traffic flows and signals.
Adding to the complexities, apart from the substantial vehicle traffic, pedestrian traffic was high due to the intersection being a main thoroughfare for access to Marketfair Campbelltown and Macarthur Train Station.
A combination of full depth pavement reconstruction along with mill and resheet determined by variable existing subsoil conditions saw a well deserved vehicle surface upgrade.
Complex staging arrangements included a number of blackout ROLs, with majority of works taking place at night to reduce the impact on traffic and local communities.
One of the most challenging aspects was the delivery of nightly handbacks, 6 nights a week over the entirety of the 3 month program without delay or incident.
After close consultation with TfNSW and Camden City Council, Moits revised and rolled out alternative staging plans, removing an entire stage from the proposed program which ultimately resulted in delivery well ahead of schedule. and efficient signalised intersection.
